Bahamas Snorkeling, Scuba Diving And Activities

Where Are The Best Places To Snorkel & Scuba Dive In The Bahamas?

The Bahamas is also home to some very unique wildlife, and taking a yacht charter is one of the best ways to see it. For example, you can see adorable swimming pigs on Big Major, and indigenous Rock Iguana populations on Allen's Cay. There are also many hikes you can do on several different islands to view the beautiful flora.

The Bahamas Offers Many Snorkeling And Scuba Diving Spots

There are multiple scuba diving and snorkeling opportunities in the Bahamas such as Thunderball Grotto, an exciting place to go scuba diving, that was actually featured in the James Bond films.

Nassau is the capital of The Bahamas, and it is located on Grand Bahama. Both Grand Bahama and neighboring Paradise Island are well-known for their luxurious resorts, and they are a good place to start any Bahamas yacht charter tour. Wandering the streets of Nassau, you will see the beautiful pastel-colored architecture, as well as many historic sites dating back to the city's time as a pit stop for pirates in the area. We have created a suggested yacht charter itinerary with plenty of things to do, for example, you can visit Old Fort Nassau, Blackbeard's residence, at the British Colonial Hilton.

The Bahamas Are Perfect For Snorkeling & Scuba Diving

The Bahamian Islands are ideal for snorkeling thanks to its clear, blue waters that are usually calm, along with miles of stunning coral reefs. Coral reefs, also known as “Rainforests of the Sea”, are home to millions of fish, starfish, sea urchins and turtles. The shallow reefs that surround the islands are only a few feet from the surface of the ocean, making it very easy to take a look into underwater life. There are also numerous blue holes and cays to explore.

Are you looking forward to putting on a pair of goggles, grabbing your flippers and experiencing underwater life up close? The Bahamas offers many picturesque spots for snorkeling! One of the best things about snorkeling is that you don’t need any training or special equipment.

Below you will find a list of the Best Snorkeling Spots for a Bahamas Yacht Charter:

1. Dean’s Blue Hole (Long Island)

When the ceiling of an ancient cave collapses into the ocean, a blue hole is created. This one is considered to be one of the deepest in the world!

2. Green Turtle Cay (Abacos)

Located in the northern part of the Bahamas, the Abacos are one of the most remote areas of the Out Islands. Green Turtle Cay is the perfect spot to explore magnificent shallow reefs and outstanding fish life, sea fans and coral formations just off the beach. Unlike more central islands of the Bahamas, this area is free of crowds and marine environments are more preserved.

Located about 1.4 miles northeast of Spanish Wells Island, Devil’s Backbone is known for its beautiful shallow reef, the variety of fish and other marine life. Renowned for its numerous shipwrecks, this boat accessed site houses snappers, parrotfish, grunts, moray eels, angelfish, and stingrays.
